We really enjoy our fellowship time together. Our congregation has some absolutely wonderful cooks (men, as well as women). We love to have congregational meals to share our gifts and talents. The meal following our Welcome Wednesday program is a highlight of the week. Won’t you join us?

Welcome Wednesday
Our Welcome Wednesday program begins at 5:30 p.m. with Christian Education and Musical offerings for the youth and children, and Bible study for adults. A meal for everyone is served at 6:30 p.m. A typical Wednesday meal could be a meal prepared by one of our cooking “teams”, or potluck, or ordered pizza and salad when the mood hits.

We really enjoy our fellowship time together.

  • Church Bazaar
Our church hosts an annual bazaar which is always held the Saturday after Labor Day. It is filled with good ole’ down home music, a bakery with tasty treats and homemade casseroles that we prepare, a flea market, a cafe with BBQ sandwiches and all the trimmings, pre-sold BBQ Boston butts and pork tenderloins that are cooked by the men of the church, and a booth featuring hand-crafted fair-trade items from all around the world. Our church really pulls together for this exciting event, with months of planning and preparation. The Lord always seems to bless us with perfect weather. After all, the money we raise is typically given back to the community, through other charities and organizations.

  • Youth Activities
The children of the church are very important to us! We enjoy planning activities for them, such as our Easter Egg Hunts and Halloween parties. Our youth also participate in Youth Uniting in Christ (YUIC), a joint Youth Group with the First United Methodist and the First Christian Churches of Kennett. A highlight of the Advent Season is the annual Children’s Holiday Pageant. During worship service, all the children of the church act out the Nativity scene with narration, costumed characters and Christmas carols.

  • Music Opportunities
Our Director of Music is Viretta Sexton. Our musical offerings reflect the interest of the participants. We have the ability to offer music programs for people of all ages with Children’s Choir, Youth Choir, and Adult Choir; Handbell Choirs for Youth and Adults. Many community singers join our Adult Choir for our annual Christmas Eve Candlelight and Carol Worship Service. Our talents are allowed to shine in other ways as entertainment during our annual Church Bazaar. Currently our Children’s Choir is being led by Mary Jo Byrd, Marianne Dalton, and Glenda Raspberry; the Youth Handbells are directed by Bernice Crow.
